Physical fitness is a very important part in our lives. It enables us to perform up to our potential. Fitness can be described as a condition that helps us look, feel and do our best. More specifically, it is the “ability of the human body to function with vigor and alertness, without undue fatigue, and with ample energy to engage in leisure activities. Physical fitness involves the performance of the heart and lungs, and the muscles of the body. And, since what we do with our bodies also affects what we can do with our minds, fitness influences to some degree qualities such as mental alertness and emotional stability. Physical fitness is most easily understood by examining the four basic parts: Cardiorespiratory Endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance and flexibility. Cardiorespiratory Endurance is the ability to deliver oxygen and nutrients to tissues and to remove wastes over sustained periods of time. Long runs and swims are among the methods employed in measuring this component. Muscular strength is the ability of a muscle to exert force for a brief period of time. Muscular Endurance refers to the capacity of a muscle to exert a submaximal force through a given range of motion or at a single point over a given time. Flexibility is the ability of a joint to move through a full range of motion. By taking this class it has really taught me a lot about fitness and has helped me change my physical ways. Since I started this class I have tried my hardest to work out at least four times a week. I walk four miles and do 100 abs three times a week for sure. On Saturday and Sunday I try to go to the gym and do weights. Over the past couple of weeks I can tell that my cardiovascular endurance has gotten a lot better. The first few weeks I would get really tired and out of breath after about 30 minutes but now I can walk an hour and be fine. My muscular strength has gotten better too.
